Sunny Daze

This is where I aim to be next weekend.  It will be our first beach trip of the year, and only our second trip to the beach with Olivia thus far.  How sad is that?  We live in Florida and rarely go to the beach.  Well, we are gonna go all out next weekend and get an umbrella, bring a cooler, and make a day out of it with the kids, and Tyler and Maria.  I'm really excited because my new bathing suit should be here by then.  I was going to touch up my hair next week since we are going to see The Postal Service on June 5th, but my mom is going to do my hair the day of the concert so that I can go swimming at the beach and bask in the sun and not have to worry about my hair fading since it won't be freshly dyed.  So excited!  I got a lovely jade green one piece with a bandeau top and just ordered myself a cute little swimsuit cover up dress. Hopefully we will get plenty of beachy days this summer.  I just wanna be a beach bum and not get a tan or have my hair fade.  Is that so much to ask?  Meh.  Anyway, I know my posts are usually random and scatterbrained, but at least I warned you of that in my About Me section.  You get what you pay for.  Which is nothing.  You get nothing. ;P

A Battle of Epic Proportions.

If you've been keeping up with my Tumblr or Instagram, you know by now that we had a colored bubble war of sorts that ended, well, as you would guess that a colored bubble war would end...  Messy.  The paint splatters on their face and the table were nothing.  They both decided they wanted to become superheroes, so they took the bubbles and covered their hands, forearms, and a large portion of their face.  Uncle Tyler turned into Hulk (green bubbles) and Gavyn was obviously Spiderman (blue bubbles - we didn't buy red, but Gavyn cleverly pointed out that Spiderman is both red and blue).  Afterwards, James hosed them down and they took a nice bath together.  Now they're playing a little Marvel vs Capcom 3 before heading to bed.  I think Mama is going to work on my crocheting and then down some coffee and play Portal 2 with James (until I get frustrated enough to want to throw the controller at the TV screaming that there's no possible way to solve the puzzle just before James figures it out - it's sure to happen).  I'm gonna (try to) stay up past 10 (keep your fingers crossed for me) tonight, so risky (get it, because I'm old)!  Because JAMES is off tomorrow on MY day off and I am EXCITED!  This will be our second day off together since he started working for DirecTV, but apparently his supervisor is going to try to make it a weekly occurrence.  YES!

And just in case you were wondering what Livi was doing while all of this has been going on, it looked a little something like this:

BFP

Gavyn and I were sitting at the table as I worked on some homework and he munched on a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar.  About halfway through his bar, he looked at me and said, "I have to go pee, don't eat my ice cream."  I laughed and acted as if I was going to as he was walking away, and he turned around and stopped and said, "You not eat it!"  When he came back, he offered me a bite and in the process accidentally dropped some on the floor.  I asked him why he dropped the ice cream on the floor and he replied, "I not do it on purpose."  Are you kidding me with how smart he is???

In other news, I know it has been awhile, but things are great at home.  We are actually thinking of moving to a bigger house when our lease is up in September, and calling a place with bigger bathrooms, bedrooms, and a kitchen our home...  This, to us, is rather exciting but doesn't really compare to the news that follows...  WE ARE EXPECTING!

There is no mistaking that!  The one on the bottom is the first test we took, as you can see the line is kind of dull, but still there.  Well, yesterday I took the one on top and today I went to the health department and...  What do you know!  I'm pregnant with baby #2!  Estimated due date is February 9, 2011 according to my pregnancy app in my iPhone and February 13, 2011 according to the lady's chart at the health department.  I'm going to call Dr. Armbruster (who I chose when I was pregnant with Gavyn) tomorrow to make an appointment!  We're very excited, especially because it happened on our very first try.  And so the waiting game begins!  I went to my Aunt's with my Mom on Monday to take some pre-preschool graduation pictures of Tyler and Hailie and they did the ring test...  I know what you're thinking, but it was right for their kids and for Gavyn, so I decided to give it a shot.  And according to the magical ring test, I am having a girl.  I can only hope so.  James wants another boy, go figure.  We are still agreeing on the name Olivia and I can't convince James OR Gavyn that any other name will be just as nice.  So, we will see!  Here are the pictures that I took of Hailie and Tyler:

That's all for now!

Happy 5th Birthday, Tyler!

Gavyn slept in a little late this morning because he has been sick the last couple of days.  I went into his room to gently wake him up.  He did a couple of long, exaggerated stretches, a little bit of a wake-up dance, and then a huge smile crept upon his face.  He held his arms out for a hug, gave me a huge bear hug, then started to pat my back.  After about five minutes, I pulled away to talk to him and he pulled me in for another one which lasted about two minutes.  I'm so glad that he's usually in a good mood in the mornings.  He certainly must've gotten that from Daddy.  Anyway, today is Tyler's 5th birthday and we're going to have a little party at my house.  My mom had to do some last-minute shopping for him yesterday, and the only way this could be accomplished without him seeing the gift was for me to actually do it.  So we bought him his Spiderman skateboard complete with an Iron Man helmet and pads (they didn't have Spiderman, give me a break).  I sat there for a good ten minutes contemplating how to wrap a heavy skateboard with wheels coming out of the bottom without it ripping through the wrapping paper.  Then I had James find me a hefty box to put it in.  Shortcut.  We got him some Wolverine gloves with pop-out retractable claws and some action figures.  He's going to be thrilled with all of it.  So will Gavyn, because he'll get to play with whatever Tyler is least interested in while he's over, haha.

Ty & Gav

Hopefully I'll be back into the swing of taking pictures more often.

Schnookums.

Today I went to PHCC to take my college placement test. I did great on everything except the Algebra. This didn't come as a surprise to me because in high school I struggled with Algebra II.

In two weeks I have an appointment with one of the advisors to schedule my classes that begin in August. I'm more than likely going to take Algebra, English, and two Psychology classes. I'll probably be sifting through my options once I'm done with this post or tomorrow to see what classes will work with my schedule. I really don't want to have any classes on my days off from work, especially on Wednesday, so I'll probably end up with classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The pictures throughout this post were taken a few days ago. Tyler and Gavyn are like two peas in a pod. Seymour (the plant pictured below, James dubbed him 'Seymour' after the plant from Little Shop of Horrors) has also become a part of our family recently. In fact, he has taken up a very LARGE part of our life. He is our little cactus/weed that won't stop growing in our front yard. James and I swear that he doubles in size daily. We're afraid to try to pull him out of the ground because my Mom had Seymour Sr. living in her yard. Rachel accidentally stepped on him so he decided to accidentally stun her with his prickles and leave her foot aching for days.

I apologize for the informality, you should meet him for yourself. I present to you... Seymour! The picture really doesn't do him justice. As I said, these pictures were taken a few days ago, so you see, he has tripled in size since then.

Come Wednesday, Seymour will be no more. We are paying $15 to have our lawn mowed and Seymour laid to rest.

RIP, Seymour.

We will never forget you.

Gavyn never fails to surprise me with the new things that he has learned. Yesterday while Tyler was crying he said, "Aww, Tyler's crying." Today he asked me, "What are you doing, Mommy?" Dare I even mention him POOPING on the big boy potty the other day!

I'm intrigued by how quickly he picks up on everything. I think that he is the main reason I'm interested in going to school to become an elementary teacher. Nothing compares to the look on his face when he learns something new. Except, of course, hearing "I wuv ouu." Right now he is supposed to be sleeping, instead he just walked out to say, "Hertuwees!" which obviously means he needs Hercules restarted on his dvd player. James is parked on the couch catching up on the episodes of The Office that I watched without him today since he was at work. He was less than thrilled that I watched it without him, but really... How could I resist?

Well, I'm going to cut this short because it's now 10:49 pm and we have to leave for work at 6:00 am. Plus, I have to catch up on some much-needed cuddling and posssssssibly search the freezer for a much-needed frozen dessert. I know that I've already eaten all of my Eddy's Frozen Lemonade Bars. Why do I do this to myself? Thursday (grocery shopping day) can't come soon enough.
