Another Kind of Accidental Hiatus

I really want to try to start updating this again.  I knew it had been awhile since my last update, but a few of my posts randomly popped up on my ever-changing Facebook layout and I started to read some of them.  I find that for instant gratification with uploading something so that I can look back at it and remember it, Instagram has been my go-to sort of photo blog, but it's just that -- a photo blog.  I slap on a little caption and then it's added to the thousands of other photos I've already posted.  I mean, don't get me wrong, I do frequently look back through photos on there, and if you're like me and are constantly taking pictures it's a good way to keep the pictures without having to store them on your phone and waste that space.  However, it's just not the same looking back at Instagram pictures as it is reading my old blog or journal posts.  I think my very first online journaling experience goes all the way back to 2004 with LiveJournal.  It's funny and amusing to be able to read all of my angsty teenager posts and see how different (and sometimes the same) my views were back then.  Going two years without posting is leaving out quite a bit of pertinent information for me to be able to look back on later!  So even if the point of my posts are just to complain about my lack of posting, I'm going to try to update this a little more often.  Maybe even try to write in my real journal once in awhile, too.  Anyway, here's a post about not posting which will hopefully be followed up by another post real soon!

Rambles bambles.

Well, now that I have a handy little app on my iPhone which enables me to update this blog without even jumping on a computer, it might (MIGHT) be easier to keep up with!

I don't feel like playing catch up, because if you're important (to me), then you already know what we have been up to! The most recent things being that I am now a stay at home mom, we have acquired two new (feline by nature) additions to the family (Taco and Benjamin Gibpurrd), and Gavyn will soon be 5 and Olivia will soon be 1!

So anyway, I sit here with ANTM on in the background and a bowl of pomegranate seeds in my lap. James is already passed out since he now leaves the house at 3:30 AM.

My car is being fixed, so as of late I have been bumming rides to run errands and attend play dates... We are hoping that it will be figured out and done by this weekend.

I worked ahead in my classes for this semester, so I've been finished -- aside from the final that I'm waiting on to be made available. I'm currently maintaining a 3.8 GPA, not too shabby.

I'm verrrrry excited that I believe I will also soon find a resolution to my cloth diapering woes. Olivia was getting a horrible rash from the BumGenius diapers we built our stash upon. I had tried a number of different laundry detergents, convinced that it had to be what was causing the problem. Unfortunately, it was not so simple. She was having a bad reaction and is sensitive to the polyester material they are made from. So after several phone calls to a few companies, all of my diapers are being replaced with BumGenius Elemental diapers which are made from 100% organic cotton. I'm also purchasing a toilet sprayer and additive-free laundry detergent to get this thing figured out. I almost gave up, but my faith had been restored when I found out that we are going to be able to exchange them.

I'm currently working on slowly but surely working fruits and nuts into our pantry and fridge rather than chips and cookie dough. Baby steps. I'm not going cold turkey, but if healthy snacks are readily available to me and not-so-healthy snacks are less attainable, I'm bound to make SOME good decisions.

Anyhow, this post is random and scatter-brained... Particularly because I can only read a few sentences of what I've written at a time on this peewee screen, and also because apparently I'm an old lady and start getting sleepy at 10:30.

This has been a pointless post brought to you by Ashley!

Love.

Looking at pictures like these make my whole day brighter.

GLEE!

I have a total of
102 Glee songs
on my iPod and
while listening to
them on my way
in to work,
they make my
mornings so much
brighter!

Life, thoughts, time.

Olivia slept without being swaddled for the first time last night.  When I woke up, I spotted her like this.  I don't know if it was because she was dressed classically in footie Disney pajamas that I adore, or because she bares a striking resemblance to her older brother...  But I suddenly flashed back to when Gavyn was that age, wearing yellow and blue Winnie the Pooh footie pajamas, sleeping peacefully, so tiny.  And then I flashed forward to imagining Olivia being four already, and seeing all of these stages fly by.  I can't believe he's four.  I can't believe she's already one day shy of four months old.  I can't believe that in four years I'm going to be saying the same thing about Olivia as I now am about Gavyn (and I'll be adding that Gavyn will then be EIGHT)...  Time goes by so fast.  I get so caught up in thinking about the future and how when I'm finished with school and we're more financially stable things will be "easier."  We have it so instilled in our brains that there will be a day and a time that things will suddenly get easier and all will be well.  The only time that I can think ahead to where daily stresses will be easier is when I'm retired, and then I will face even more stress probably as a result of health-related issues.  Sometimes I have my mind racing so far into the future that I forget to enjoy what's happening right now.  Life isn't always easy, but you still have to make the most of it and enjoy it for what it is because you only get one.  This sudden realization is going to take some time to work its way into my daily life, and it will take some time for me to fully digest...  But I think I'm going to print this post and put it somewhere where I can read it often when my mind starts racing so that I can stop and focus on what's going on now.  Sometimes people are going to cut you in line, or your check engine light is going to turn on, or you’re going to run late to work because of traffic, or whatever the case may be…  And then it’s suddenly FML.  No, not FYL.  Sometimes shit happens.  And maybe that’s just a part of life, the big picture, the grand scheme of things.  You can’t let little things, daily annoyances, or even big things ruin it for you.  So stop FMLing, get off the computer, stop texting on your phone, stop caring what your friends ate for breakfast, stop paying so much attention to insignificant details, and go bungee-jumping or something.  I don't really care if this came from out of nowhere or if you have no idea what I'm talking about.  Apparently you just haven't been enlightened or inspired yet.
